Kilcooley Community Forum: New Decade for Development

FORUM
24 June, 2010

Presentation to Brian Holmes Director Supporting Communities NI.

Mr Brian Holmes Director SCNI and Jim Rea Chairman Kilcooley Community Forum

As Director of SCNI (formerly Northern Ireland Tenants Action Project) Mr Brian Holmes has for over 25 years been involved in supporting numerous groups and organisations within Kilcooley, offering services such as training facilitation for groups and managing PAYE packages.

Today’s presentation was to thank Brian for his personal commitment to Kilcooley and to say farewell as Kilcooley Community Forum believes it has now grown in its community capacity to be able to manage the work that Brian and SCNI had been doing at their Interagency Strategy meetings.

S.C.N.I. uses a self help approach to community development by providing support, advice, information and training to new and existing community/residents groups, statutory and voluntary organisations. They support existing groups and the formation of new groups, enhancing their skills, knowledge and expertise thus enabling them to fully participate in matters impacting on their communities.

The early years support from NITAP/SCNI proved imperative to help get Kilcooley moving slowly forward which promoted and developed community confidence and allowed individuals and resident groups to start standing on their own feet.

Jim Rea Chairman of Kilcooley Community Forum, on behalf of the member groups thanked Brian for his support and commitment and in token of appreciation presented him with a small gift.
