Kilcooley Square Community Art Garden

Kilcooley Square Community Garden opening on Wednesday 16th June.

The garden at Kilcooley Square was funded under the Arts Council NI ‘Re-imaging Communities’ fund and was due to open earlier in the year but because of the inclement weather was postponed.

The garden has sculptured seating, a central mosaic with a time capsule, a nautical themed sculpture with images of Kilcooley farm and maps depicting the former townlands. Another aspect of the project was the replacement mural of Sir Edward Bingham VC at Orlock Gardens which was completed in 2009 after community consultation. Each piece of artwork involved Arts Council registered artists working with local people of all ages on the various elements of the project.

The official opening will be carried out by Ann Ward from Arts Council NI.

Invitations have been extended to a number of guests and local residents are welcome to attend the event.
