Two Robberies in Kilcooley
A pensioner in her nineties and the local Mace were robbed of substantial amounts of money.
It is thought the pensioner, a woman in her nineties may have allowed the robber into her home at some point over the weekend and they exploited the woman’s vulnerability to enable them to steal her savings.
Friends who would visit the lady said they were aware money had been stolen and they contacted the police and the lady’s family.
In another incident a member of staff at the Kilcooley Mace was robbed at knife point by a masked man who also stole a quantity of cigarettes.
Jim Rea Chairman of Kilcooley Community Forum, “This type of behaviour is to be utterly condemned. To rob a vulnerable pensioner like this is despicable, and to steal from the local shop is an attack not just on the business but on this community which will not be tolerated.”
